Located in Hampton, Virginia, on the historic Hampton University campus, the Museum is the oldest African American museum in the U.S. and one of the oldest museums in the state. The collections feature over 9,000 objects including traditional African, Native American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Island, and Asian art; fine arts; and objects relating to the history of the University. The Virginia Air and Space Center features NASA displays as well as air and spacecraft suspended from its 94-foot ceiling. Included in the displays is a lunar lander, a moonrock, a meteorite and more. An IMAX Theater is also held within the center that feaures a variety of educational films.
